Ad Hoc Web Analytics
Ad Hoc web analytics is just a fancy way to say "We don't have a name for this report".
Suffice to say that Omniture SiteCatalyst™ is an extremely powerful tool. If someone can visit your website and perform a task, we can track the situation.
Assume you wanted to track the following steps:
- Of every unique visitor to the website.
- How many look at your Do It Yourself problem solver?
- After they look at the problem solver, how many look at Product A?
- On the Product A page we have an up sell pitch to Product B. How many buy Product B after they see Product A?
This seems like a difficult web analytics scenario to report but it's actually quite easy. There are 2 ways to tackle this report:
1) Merchandising:
If we are only interested in the up sell from Product A to Product B - then we can use a merchandising parameter to track the relationship.
Think in terms of an electronics store. We may pick up a digital camera in the camera section but we pick up the AA batteries for that camera in the checkout aisle. This works well if we aren't necessarily concerned with the problem solver steps.

2) Fall-Out Report:
If we need to see this exact scenario we run a Fall-Out Report. SiteCatalyst includes an interface where we "Drag & Drop" the specific steps that we wish to study.
The Fall-Out Report from Omniture SiteCatalyst will quantify the percentage of visitors that continue from one step in the process to the next.
