AOL Drops Netscape Development
AOL is planning to stop all development on the Netscape browser beginning February 1, 2008.
Netscape spent the mid 1990s at the top of the heap of web browsers holding a 90% share in users. By the end of 2006 the usage share of Netscape browsers fell to less than 1% of total users and the end was in sight.
We are sad to see the end of the Netscape era. Competition is sorely needed in the browser ranks and this signifies the end of a quality player.
The First Scribe folks rely heavily on the Mozilla Firefox browser for every-day use. Firefox provides good usability, solid security as well as HTML standards.
We take pride in testing all sites on Mac and Windows in Internet Explorer 6 and 7 as well as Firefox and Safari.
