Flash Home Page Headers

There are a lot of web design pundits out there and many of them say that Flash animation has played itself out. We agree that Flash has certainly been over-cooked on many web sites but Flash animation in corporate web design has evolved to a great, new life.

A little movement will attract the eye. Use too much animation and the eyes of your visitors will turn to the Back button and leave your site. We hope that the days of the ghastly Flash Splash Page greeting visitors are over but we still see them on occasion.

Use Flash sparingly

We suggest using Flash on your web design but make certain that you don't over do it. Start with a large image that portrays the visceral feeling of your value proposition. Combine that image with a small amount of animated text to literally state the multiple slug lines in your brand identity campaign.

With animation you can show and image and say, "We do this!" Then show another image and state, "We do this too!"

An example web design

All home pages are pressed for space and the home page of 2nd Wind Exercise Equipment is exceedingly so. The 2nd Wind team offers multiple lines of products so their feature areas are full, leaving no room for marketing messaging. We use the Flash animation in the header to scroll through multiple brand identity statements:

  1. Your 1st choice for new equipment, anything less just wouldn't work out.
  2. Incomparable Equipment
  3. Uncompromising Value
  4. Unprecedented Service
  5. Isn't it time you got your 2nd Wind?™

Go to their site and take a look (www.2ndWindExercise.com).
