Unless you are an ecommerce site, you probably don’t require a mobile-specific website.
You, my friend, need a mobile-specific website. Mobile visitors cut to the chase with their buying habits and they want to see product immediately. We build stylesheets specifically for that visitor. If they want to see the rest of the site, we still allow them to view the desktop site in a mobile optimized format.
All of you lead-generation folks out there - you’re off the hook for a 2nd site. However, that’s not to say that you can ignore mobile technology altogether.
Your lead generation site still needs to be mobile optimized for visitors in lower bandwidth locations. Images, animations, and stylesheets all need to be configured for use on a mobile platform at 3G cellular speeds.
