Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the process of improving your rankings on organic search terms, and most people still think of it as the Wild West of the internet—an untamed frontier where the key is finding some SEO wizard who can magically manipulate the web into putting you first in Google.
Not to downplay high rankings (after all, a lot of you got to this site by Googling “web design Minneapolis”). But today’s SEO is about legitimate “white hat” techniques, not outdated spammy gimmicks. And at First Scribe, we focus on building you a website that deserves to rank well.
We do it by following certain core SEO beliefs:
Translation: We’d rather send a thousand people to your eCommerce store and land 100 buyers than send a million and snare only 10. (Sounds like common sense, but you’d be surprised how many agencies don’t operate that way.)
We’re not talking about the environment (although we believe in that, too). We’re talking about avoiding the temptation of the “quick spike” in favor of sustainable SEO efforts that pay off consistently—and well into the future.
We stay on top of every search nuance in grabbing customers who are physically near you, from showing your location in Google Maps to knowing local search terms (e.g. “Twin Cities” for “Minneapolis”).
For the first time in human history, mobile internet usage now exceeds PCs. Our goal is to maximize your effectiveness on every platform and every screen, but we pay special attention to mobile search, because that’s where your customers are.
Google makes 500-600 algorithm updates per year.
